In 2008, we have seen drastic changes in the lending parameters for most commercial loans.  We have secured numerous relationships with lenders, hedge funds, private investors, insurance companies, and pension funds, so that every possible advantage can be provided for our clients.  In the week of 10-06-2008, we witnessed the worst week for the stock market since the Great Depression.  With the Investment Banks’ collapse and stock market melt-downs, traditional banks are putting stops to all lending, a Freeze.  With the freeze in effect, we now have an end to our basic form of daily business, the “Letter of Credit”.  Without it, business to business can no longer continue, due to the fact each party suspects the other party’s Letter of Credit may not have value at the end of the day.

CMI is witnessing daily calls and concerns from CFOs with stable…even extremely successful businesses worried because their commercial loan (for any project) may no longer be secure due to the fact their financing was going  through Wachovia, Lehman Brothers, Washington Mutual, and so on.  In addition, we see construction loans called in “due” because the financing lender is no longer lending….midway through the project.  Who can they trust, where can they turn?
